Details on the Degree

Siena’s Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Massage Therapy is a career-oriented program designed for professionals with allied health or technical training, Associate of Applied Science Degrees, or graduates of two-year occupational programs. The degree in its entirety requires 120 credits, 33 of which are awarded with proof of your current Board Certification.

In addition to transferring in all previously completed college coursework (a minimum of 60 credits or more is required at the time of admission), you will be required to complete additional credits by registering with Siena Heights University and selecting courses in the areas of Management, Health Care Management, Professional Communication or Social/Behavioral Sciences. All available courses are designed to help you effectively execute the managing/marketing of your business, as well as the human relations side of your career.

There’s more! Additional credits will be awarded to certified massage therapists who wish to complete optional, documented massage work hours outside of those required for Board Certification. If this applies to you, please work directly with your Enrollment Advisor; Siena will determine the appropriate number of additional credits awarded while identifying your overall transfer credit prior to admission.

How Board Certification College Credits Are Determined

Siena Heights University awards 33 credits for Board Certification using a simple 30:1 ratio. One credit is awarded per 30 hours of documented massage education and training. The required 750 hours of documented massage education and the 250 hours of documented massage work total 1,000 massage hours; divided by 30, the total number of credits awarded is valued at 33.
