NCBTMB and Academy of Clinical Massage Launch Clinical Rehabilitative Massage Specialty Certificate Program

(April 11, 2017)—The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today a partnership with the Academy of Clinical Massage (“Academy”) to introduce the profession’s first Clinical Rehabilitative Massage Specialty Certificate Program.
“For decades, stakeholders and professionals in our field have been looking for some type of recognized credential that can validate the training and experience of massage therapists who treat pain and injury conditions,” explains Academy Director, Whitney Lowe. “This specialty certificate program has been uniquely designed to address this deficit.”

NCBTMB Names Matthews Chair of Certification Board
Burr Ridge, Ill. (March 1, 2017) – The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today Teresa M. Matthews, LMT, CPT, BCTMB, has been named Chair of the Certification Board, effective immediately.
Matthews’ new role as Chair comes at the departure of former Board Chair, Bruce Baltz. Baltz was given the opportunity to participate in the recent Certification Board Elections following NCB’s recent restructuring; however, due to personal reasons, Baltz notified NCB he would no longer be able to carry out his role.
NCBTMB Releases 2017 Certification Board Election Results

NCBTMB Ethics and Standards Committee Seeks Public Member
Burr Ridge, Ill. (July 12, 2016) – The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today it is seeking a Public Member to serve on its Ethics and Standards Committee.
The NCBTMB Ethics and Standards committee members review, investigate, and make final determinations regarding complaints of ethical violations and professional discipline matters related to NCBTMB National and Board Certificants. In addition to performing investigations, committee members participate in monthly Ethics and Standards meetings via teleconference. Monthly meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month starting at 12:00pm ET, and last between 45 minutes to 2 hours.
